Pros
Hard work and positive attitude were recognized Great training from HR and DM when I start as a full time employee, I really learned how to sell and build relationships with customers. Great people work there and I made some friends for life! I really enjoyed going to work everyday, even if it was day 13 of a stretch and we worked 6 day weeks for 4 months straight. I was living in a new city by myself so maybe it helped to work so much, but I really loved being able to build relationships and learned a lot from many veteran associates who had been in the business far longer than myself and were extremely hard workers. It was rewarding to help train new hires and seeing them blossom in the their roles and get promoted. Customers are awesome and being able to get to know the 'regulars' was rewarding. Training where I started at in Omaha was very helpful, as well as from my store managers in Wichita and Dayton!
Cons
Not going to lie, wearing a skirt and panyhose everyday is NOT ideal, however, I understand why they do it. If they let everyone wear pants, it would create more dress code violations. I walked through a Dillards once and saw courdoroy pants, faded black jeans.. not very appealing when you are looking for help with an outfit. I may sound cheesy and like a fake person, but I really enjoyed my time at Von Maur at all levels, I know in retail it's hard on your body and being on the front line to angry customers isn't fun, but it really helped me grow as a person and I am sad to hear people aren't getting the experience I did. It's the business of helping people and if you don't love doing that, than maybe it's not the job for you.
