Pros
$11 hourly wage in Wisconsin and small 1% commission
Cons
Very Poor and Robotic-like Management. Positive feedback lacking. Extremely Low Employee Morale in the new Brookfield, WI location. Attendance Policy Way Too Strict. Not Enough Staff During Shifts. Easily Fired for Minor Attendance Issues even if Meeting or exceeding ALL Sales Expectations. Expected to vacuum fitting rooms and sales floor, dry mop tile floors, dust, and clean mirrors in your sales area while you are wearing their "mandatory" female uniform of skirt/dress and nylons. Management tells you to "lie" to customers when they ask you if you are on commission. They say to tell customers "No" we all work together. It's not true! Sales Associates are all hourly wage plus COMMISSION. They also "force" you to follow-up with customers as it is part of their monthly evaluation. The Thank You Cards and personal phone call customers receive are a mandatory part of the Von Maur program, they are not "organic or real" as employees HAVE TO do it as part of their service expectations that are measured by the number of contacts or they will be fired. There are monthly "quotas" for signing up customers on the Von Maur "interest free" Credit Cards. Yet Sales Associates are not paid anything on those sign ups. You are expected to work all weekends and nights and can not request evenings off in your schedule. You can only request 1 weekend off per month. Some of my fellow employees have been "reprimanded" for laughing too, loud in their department. Just an awful company...they will have a hard time retaining employees in Wisconsin...
