Severely understaffed in quite a few departments. There are many times one person is covering 2 departments and is still expected to give the same level of service even with more than 10 customers at once on a Friday or a Saturday. You page a manager for help and either they don't return your call or they say there isn't anyone to help. The departments near yours cant help because they are in the same situation. Pray you don't get a customer complaint for not being able to spread yourself across two busy departments. It doesn't matter the circumstances, you get a complaint and your in the office getting what they call a council, with a possible write up. And if you do get let go...management will have Loss Prevention walk you out like a common criminal...very demeaning. Management is young, inexperienced, and very cliquey. Remember those cheerleader type, popular, mean girls in high school??? That is basically Von Maur management. If you don't fit in, they will make you miserable until you leave. The moral in the store is so low that the regular customers see and feel it. Some customers have made comments to the employees that they don't feel comfortable in the store because many of their long time favorite associates are no longer there. Customers have noticed a rapid turn over within the store, and have no familiar faces to look forward to. These regular customers have witnessed the associates struggling and juggling 2 midsize departments (or 1 extremely large department by themselves) with no one to help. The scheduling system known as TESS, is an impossible mess leaving no time for a life. The scheduling system is random, and management doesn't check it before it has been posted. Some times there isn't a person opening up for a department and no one realizes it till the day of. Management will then start looking at other departments to see who they can use to cover the mistake TESS made. Finally, the dress code is awful. Doing stock in skirts and/or dresses with nylons is insane. We are supposed to be a fashion forward store, yet we are forced to dress like we stuck in the 50's. Please let us wear pants or at least more fashionable clothes.

Employee discount- 20%. Can't find anything else positive!

1.Schedule is all over the place 2. Have to do truck twice a week with 0 help and just 1 person per dept. 3. Worst benefits EVER, pto given out every quarter which makes it hard to plan any time off.. you get like 20hrs every quarter... 4. Not allowed to take any unpaid time off.. 5. You get points for being late 1 minute, yes 1 minute and you get an tardee.. 6. Wannabe Micromanagers. 7. Managers hired straight out of collage with 0 work experiance who try to tell ppl with 20+ retail experiance how to do their jobs. 8. 0 communication and that is about anything.. if your co worker from your dept. Calls sick that day , you are not told but have to ask yourself when you see that they are not there.. 9. Dress code is a joke. Mr.VonMaur is stuck in the 80s.
