Pros
I work at the Von Maur in Omaha, NE. The pay is good for retail. In my experience, I have always been treated very well by my management. I never feel over worked or under appreciated. My employers are very flexible. I am a college student and they have always been great about adjusting my schedule if I ask. They are very understanding about needing time for homework and any other personal reasons. If you respect them, they will resect you. I absolutely love my managers and coworkers, who have started to feel more like friends. I once came into work flustered because of a death in my family. My upper management not only comforted me but offered me to have the night off. They truly care about their employees.
Cons
The only con that really concerns me is sometimes the scheduling seems unfair. Sometimes you'd get stuck with working 10 days in a row as you notice your coworker have 2-3 days off in a row while you're working. But management does ask about every month or so if you have any concerns about your schedule. They give you multiple opportunities to discuss your concerns. I have also heard a lot of people who dislike the dress code. Women must wear panty hose, dress/skirt. I'll admit it would be very nice to be able to wear pants, especially in the winter. But the dress code has over all never really bothered me. It very classy and I think it represents the company well. Plus, you are told what the dress code consist of before you even start, so it's not like it's a surprise when you start.
