The biggest joke at Eastview Mall!! - Department Manager Von Maur Employee Review

I have worked in retail for many years and have never seen such a high turnover for a new store in our area. We were promised many things when we started such as growth opportunity, a company who cares about its employees and their family life, just to name a few. The company culture is confusing at best. It was made perfectly clear when the first open management position was open and they promoted a blonde,22 year old with no prior retail experience, that anyone with retail experience and a proven track record who happens to be above thirty five, is going nowhere fast! The caliber of management in this company is so below industry standards iam truly embarassed for Jim Von Maur. I have never seen so many unhappy associates in any retail environment I have worked in ever. The upper management has so little exprience, that they are incapable of leading and fostering a positive environment to work in for anyone. I still cannot believe that any company that wants success in a new market would want it run by twenty year olds with no experience in managing and leading people. They do not value their employees whatsoever. Counting tardys, monthly sales reviews, being watched constantly by floor managers on the cameras ,were just a few of the ways Von Maur shows its employees how much they DO NOT trust or value them at all. Von maur has become the biggest joke in our mall. Everywhere you go, employees and customers are talking about what a horrible place they have heard it is to work in and how dissapointed they are because their was such high hopes for the store.
