Pros
It is the best training program I have ever had - I utilize their training not just in work [both Von Maur and other jobs] but also in life.
Cons
Von Maur is looking for Von Maur types - drones in essence. You have to fit a mold that they want, I was looked at negatively that I wasn't a "typical" looking Von Maur associate. They tell you in their interview process that they love individuality and are open to a pluralistic opinionated staff - that isn't the case. The diversity is low and the desire to help their staff is minimal. If you don't want to stay with Von Maur for the rest of your life - they have no use for you. I had incidents where another associate accosted me on the sales floor and I was blamed. The commission is miniscule but it is enough to make the other associates cut throat, especially in a popular department like shoes or juniors. If you push back on any of the upper tiers decisions - it will be the end of you.
