Pros
Met some nice people but they're difficult to come by Get applicable experience to use other places Pay for relocation
Cons
Management offers no direction Company not as open to change will proudly say "we are who we are" Company not appealing to young people Underpaid for the work performed & it's frowned upon if you question your increases or lack thereof Company prides themselves on promoting within & that there are always opportunities but it's because the turnover rate is high No one has clear answers Not a diverse work place (gender, race, ethnicity) If you don't adapt to the "Von Maur Attitude" there's a target on your back If you challenge or question something that they feel you should just smile & nod at you become a target People afraid to stand up for what is right in fear of being fired Get away with things that would not be ok if they weren't a privately held company No true values outside of "the customer is always right" Treat customers better than employees Updated rules are not in writing which allows them to make them up as they go Promotions are not usually performance based but instead who they like the most or who's a better "fit" People who claim to "love" the company are easily influenced or lying
