Pros

. My co workers were so nice . a union for those who need medical and it's nice to have a union rep to defend you etc. .some customer's not all . you get pay every week

Cons

. Get ready to get treated like low scum by supervisor's , store manager's and manager's. . Minimum wage job. $8.00 Here in CA. . if you're a hard worker get ready to be the one to pick up the slack of all your "seniority" coworkers. . minimum hours as a Gm bakery clerk are 24 a week . constantly Breathing down your neck by managers checking up on you at all times. . the employee's here dislike the job, but most work for the health benefits or they can't find another job. . Big EGOS here especially with supervisors . Favoritism Big TIME! . Will work you to the last sweat if they can .Say goodbye to social time and be pre pare to be on call. . if you're on your probation be aware your union rep comes at any time to ask how you are doing to your coworker's and if your coworkers don't like you well you better find another job. .vons won't work around a second job I have seen many employees get fired or quit because Von's purposely schedules them to work when they can't due to another job. . union fees eat up your minimum pay check everyweek. . they make you wear black slacks and a business casual shirt ..really we work in a grocery store not a bank.

Pros

Excellent, straightforward, comprehensive training program and learning modules to ramp up quickly. Management was reasonable and attentive. It was welcoming and I felt respected, and gave my all as a result. They also make sure people don't stay longer or go without a break after the 5-hour mark; this is a California statute with which I was unfamiliar (I was guilty of working long hours without a lunch break in CT due to

Cons

This likely comes with the territory, but a significant percentage of the target customer demographic are of the needlessly disrespectful, uncivil, infantile, entitled, and rich variety. They contrive conflict and attempt to pin it on the workers, or needlessly change their order after it has been obtained. It is child's play. Company policy says to never call the police unless they are a threat to safety, but they absolutely do disturb the peace and ruin the experience for others. It doesn't help that there is an expensive (not necessarily upscale in terms of class) drinking establishment in the same plaza.
