Pros

Minimum 16 hours a week After (I believe) one year, you get a week of paid vacation that after a long time can become 5 weeks of vacation a year Benefits (If you are promoted, you get them after 6 months. If not, I believe it's something like a year.)

Cons

Employees will consistently show up late or call in with no punishment You have to pay union dues once a week ($8.65 where I work) Low pay for most departments (After over 3 years, I make $8.40) Managers tend to not be understanding and on everyone's back Employees get little to no discipline, so most will not work hard and will walk around texting and doing their own thing Though it's possible to move to a department relatively fast, they are not friendly with school schedules (it took 3 years for me to be put into the bakery. I got a 10 cent raise and work early mornings)

Pros

Excellent, straightforward, comprehensive training program and learning modules to ramp up quickly. Management was reasonable and attentive. It was welcoming and I felt respected, and gave my all as a result. They also make sure people don't stay longer or go without a break after the 5-hour mark; this is a California statute with which I was unfamiliar (I was guilty of working long hours without a lunch break in CT due to

Cons

This likely comes with the territory, but a significant percentage of the target customer demographic are of the needlessly disrespectful, uncivil, infantile, entitled, and rich variety. They contrive conflict and attempt to pin it on the workers, or needlessly change their order after it has been obtained. It is child's play. Company policy says to never call the police unless they are a threat to safety, but they absolutely do disturb the peace and ruin the experience for others. It doesn't help that there is an expensive (not necessarily upscale in terms of class) drinking establishment in the same plaza.
