Pros

Co workers are great! I like the atmosphere in most of the stores. Benefits are horrible, very expensive, and no 401K match, what you put in is what you get. You can move up if you prove yourself, but raises, even for exceptional workers, are woefully small and demeaning.

Cons

There is never enough time and/ or money to have enough staff to cover all the tasks that get done. This causes poor customer service because everyone is too busy. Lots of Lots of double checks and checklists, it seems you are not trusted to think and get your job done without being checked on and verified. Not a lot of trust from upper upper management. Everyone is nervous about what the upcoming merger with Albertsons will bring. Some auxiliary divisions have already been axed, who is next?

Pros

Excellent, straightforward, comprehensive training program and learning modules to ramp up quickly. Management was reasonable and attentive. It was welcoming and I felt respected, and gave my all as a result. They also make sure people don't stay longer or go without a break after the 5-hour mark; this is a California statute with which I was unfamiliar (I was guilty of working long hours without a lunch break in CT due to

Cons

This likely comes with the territory, but a significant percentage of the target customer demographic are of the needlessly disrespectful, uncivil, infantile, entitled, and rich variety. They contrive conflict and attempt to pin it on the workers, or needlessly change their order after it has been obtained. It is child's play. Company policy says to never call the police unless they are a threat to safety, but they absolutely do disturb the peace and ruin the experience for others. It doesn't help that there is an expensive (not necessarily upscale in terms of class) drinking establishment in the same plaza.
