Pros

If you were hired under the old contract, you have good union benefits, decent pay. Depending on what area you work in, most customers are respectful and know how to behave in public. Fortunate to have a few co-workers who still have a work ethic, a sense of team work and care about good service.

Cons

Training: trial by fire. Watching a video is not training. Schedule changes every week, shifts are back to back. Management's top priorities are the bottom-line numbers and appearances. Does not back up her people. Most employees do the minimum, pass the buck. Indifference. Serious lack of work ethics. Being chronically understaffed affects morale and service. Lots of lip service. No serious investment in hiring special needs people. It looks good. More than anything, you're doing damage control.

Pros

Excellent, straightforward, comprehensive training program and learning modules to ramp up quickly. Management was reasonable and attentive. It was welcoming and I felt respected, and gave my all as a result. They also make sure people don't stay longer or go without a break after the 5-hour mark; this is a California statute with which I was unfamiliar (I was guilty of working long hours without a lunch break in CT due to

Cons

This likely comes with the territory, but a significant percentage of the target customer demographic are of the needlessly disrespectful, uncivil, infantile, entitled, and rich variety. They contrive conflict and attempt to pin it on the workers, or needlessly change their order after it has been obtained. It is child's play. Company policy says to never call the police unless they are a threat to safety, but they absolutely do disturb the peace and ruin the experience for others. It doesn't help that there is an expensive (not necessarily upscale in terms of class) drinking establishment in the same plaza.
