Pros

Some custiners and very few co-workers were GREAT. My positiion paid good. Great way for ypureoung people to realize they should further their education and run for the hills.

Cons

Supervisors and store managers have never worked anywhere else, They start as courtest clerks ane the "chosen" move up quickly, Store managers, corporate, and the worthless union all work together. They lie and falsify information to either move the "chosen" up and the "misfit" out, The promotions are not based on work skills or ethicsurely on the kindergarten mentality of who the in-crowd likes and dislikes. They have no education and no clue of the way to speak to employees, They have to better themselves by bringing others down because they have no skills of their own. Worst of all is paying into a disgrace of a union. They don't support the employee thats payiing for all their bs trips and try and force you to vote completely democratic. Their bookkeeping needs serious outside review. The labor board should observe a phone call when an employee tries to call in sick and they are told to get their a** to work. However, none of this will happen and vons will continue its deceitfull manner....but i do strongly believe one day they will receive their just desserts.

Pros

Excellent, straightforward, comprehensive training program and learning modules to ramp up quickly. Management was reasonable and attentive. It was welcoming and I felt respected, and gave my all as a result. They also make sure people don't stay longer or go without a break after the 5-hour mark; this is a California statute with which I was unfamiliar (I was guilty of working long hours without a lunch break in CT due to

Cons

This likely comes with the territory, but a significant percentage of the target customer demographic are of the needlessly disrespectful, uncivil, infantile, entitled, and rich variety. They contrive conflict and attempt to pin it on the workers, or needlessly change their order after it has been obtained. It is child's play. Company policy says to never call the police unless they are a threat to safety, but they absolutely do disturb the peace and ruin the experience for others. It doesn't help that there is an expensive (not necessarily upscale in terms of class) drinking establishment in the same plaza.
