Pros

-You get the benefits of being in a union -I met really great people there -They renovated the Starbucks Kiosk (after I left)

Cons

-You get payed and managed under VONS instead of Starbucks, so you don’t get any of Starbucks’s benefits, you’re not even aloud to have a single drink without buying it. -Excessively wasteful (Have to throw away everything by the end of the day and can’t take anything with you without buying it) -Always understaffed -Everything was broken all the time. -The Store manager and Assistant Store manager didn’t care about the hygiene or health regulations (we had mold in the ice machine and they still wanted us to use it because they wanted us to keep selling iced drinks) -You get all the grocery store Karens -You get payed less (minimum wage) than regular cashiers even though cashiering is like 15% of job as a Starbucks barista

Pros

Excellent, straightforward, comprehensive training program and learning modules to ramp up quickly. Management was reasonable and attentive. They also make sure people don't stay longer or go without a break after the 5-hour mark; this is a California statute with which I was unfamiliar (I was guilty of working long hours without a lunch break in CT due to

Cons

This likely comes with the territory, but a significant percentage of the target customer demographic are of the needlessly disrespectful, uncivil, infantile, entitled, and rich variety. They contrive conflict and attempt to pin it on the workers, or needlessly change their order after it has been obtained. It is child's play. Company policy says to never call the police unless they are a threat to safety, but they absolutely do disturb the peace and ruin the experience for others. It doesn't help that there is an expensive (not necessarily upscale in terms of class) drinking establishment in the same plaza.
