Pros

- Good Hours (6:30-3:00) - Depending on the location, you work alone often - You will accumulate a lot of hoodies and hats very quickly

Cons

Vulcan Materials is an alright place to work, but the room for advancement is very small as the company is quite small compared to other organizations of the same value. If you are not Union or Corporate, you have almost no rights or benefits within the company and the base pay is competitive but still not liveable if you are single in a metro area. Base pay for QC is 48k/yr, 52k if you life in the Chicago Metro Area, which equates to roughly $25 an hour. Overtime is time and a half, but is not offered year round and they are VERY strict about hours. Yearly raises are a joke, about 4% if you perform well enough. QC is the definition of overworked and underpaid. You are constantly handed more and more tasks on top of your existing tasks. If you are a workaholic who never wants to own your own home, this may be the job for you. It’s a very repetitive, boring, disrespected, and thankless job.
