Pros

The company use to be a great place to work.

Cons

I was employed at WaFd for nearly four years. Throughout my tenure, the environment often felt adversarial where I frequently had to be cautious, as it seemed others were intent on getting others in trouble. Within my first year, our annual bonus was significantly reduced from $8K to $2K under the justification that we had received raises; however, my earnings that first year were higher than in any year after, even with the so called merit increases. Despite assurances of promotions, management routinely failed to follow through, citing lack of approval. The leadership consistently demonstrated an inability to keep commitments and showed little regard for hardworking employees. Ultimately, I decided to leave the company after reporting an inappropriate relationship. Although I submitted the report anonymously, it was disclosed to the person I had named. Following this, I experienced clear retaliation, which made the workplace increasingly toxic. In my view, WaFd’s failure to support and retain loyal, long term employees signals deeper organizational issues. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone I care about.

Pros

Primarily remote work. Decent PTO after the 4th year.

Cons

Limited staffing and limiting overtime opportunities until the bitter end of potentially missing deadlines, which you are guilted into working. 2% "raise" every January and ZERO merit raises. Gutted profit sharing and profitability bonuses over time. Most recent bonus, which is tied to net profit after dividends, was given a result when the scale was never published. All previous bonuses had a floor-to-ceiling profit scale that showed the targets months in advance of the end of the bonus period.
