Pros

The pay and benefits were a little better than any other retail place you work at .

Cons

Very poor training. They basically stick you on the register the very first night you work there. This can be overwhelming for someone who hasn't learned the store yet and people ask you what's on sale. I always was stuck with long lines and rarely would get any help dealing with them. I was always threatened to be put in jail by some co-workers if I didn't check one person's ID when selling them tobacco and alcohol. You were also expected to answer the phones at the register, even while there were angry customers waiting right there. We got yelled at if the phone rang more than twice. Also, good luck trying to have any kind of life outside of Walgreens. I was expected to work almost every day for a week WITHOUT a day off. When I brought this up to my managers, they shrugged it off and basically told me to get over it. However, one of the EXA's friends, who was hired AFTER I was, always got the schedule she wanted and always got what she wanted to while for other employees, it was like asking for their kidneys if you needed a day off. You will always be called on your days off to come in and work as well. Also, I worked in a very unsafe environment. Our store had been notorious for robberies. Our store was in a sketchy part of town and we would have people try to come in and steal things. I had several people who when I wasn't looking, take their bag of stuff without paying for it and run out of the store. I always was in fear for my life and basically, when I worked night shifts, I was up there all by myself. I would come home and bawl my eyes out because I was just so scared. I eventually quit after 4 weeks of working there because I just couldn't take it anymore. Overall, don't work here unless you are either desperate or there are no other jobs out there.

Pros

Can be a fun environment. All in whom your staff is. Operating photo was fun and building projects for the customers. Learning about pharmacy operations.

Cons

Work life balance and low pay for what is expected. Not having enough payroll to effectively run a store. My store ran FE on a 320 hour a week budget. That was barely enough to get buy and meet the expectations put out by the company. I was never able to keep a full leadership staff. When a leader called out, I had to stay. There were days I was called away from my own dinner table. SM's were forced to be in the pharmacy for more than half of their day regardless as to what is happening in the FE. I worked over 50 hours a week and barely got to spend time with my family. If I wasn't at the store I was getting a phone call and having to go back to the store.
