Pros

The job is very interesting, handling external and internal investigations can be very engaging. There are moments where you can feel like a sleuth. You don’t have to wear a vest and can have headphones in while working usually. The workload gets larger in general isn’t very hard.

Cons

All it takes is one slip up to get fired, rules are very stringent. The workload gets larger every year for low pay, especially for solo APIs at neighborhood markets. A smaller con is that all the other work not related to shoptheft is a real drag. The workload is also tedious, and prior to this week there was less responsibility on APIs in NHMs, but no extra compensation for coach responsibilities. Training for the role boils down to reading some policies and then putting you out there, so you have to learn on the job quick. There isn’t a very professional training pipeline in general for roles that hold more responsibility that isn’t Ops, coach, or Store Manager.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
