Pros

Pay is good, I interviewed at other places and the quote is hard to beat. Some part of my leadership really cares about the people and some other part is just ok. The company celebrates important holidays for different countries which makes it feel inclusive. There is some division called store 8 doing really cool projects with robots and drones. When I joined I didn't know Walmart had this advanced technology. I haven't figured out where that is but it always gets highlighted in the all-hands.

Cons

My division is decent but for my friends in the fraud division, the leadership is really bad. Some Managers hide information from each other and encourage their reports to do the same and play against other groups, even if that is counter-productive for the company. The worse is that part of leadership sponsors that thing. I even heard that one of the Managers has an ethnic bias and many people accept it. There is no work-life balance, attrition is very high, and people are always looking to steal the credit of their co-workers. My division is much better but kind of ok, though I have heard of very good divisions. Last year our work turned repetitive after the big project changed and my tech tools are getting old. Also, some reorg changes at the VP level made things harder for us

Pros

Work-life balance is good in most teams. 9 to 5 is doable, but if you have partners working in India, then you might need to have meetings in earlier mornings and late evenings. Culture is good. In the sense that if most people in your team have families, then it's common that people leave work at 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. to pick up kids.(and work at home after that)

Cons

Moving very slow. Not very tech-driven. Business has a lot to say and huge power. Company is going through restructuring frequently. Almost feel like two to three reorgs every year. The new CPO Daniel D seems only good at hosting fireside events than driving real AI innovations. Engineering and Product feel working in silo for AI innovation. A lot of PMs feel not clear about their scopes under the ask that everyone should be a global PM covering US, international, and Sams club. No idea how you can have one PM cover three regions when you have three different sets of engineering team and business team, and the business conditions are so different. Leadership expects individuals to figure out for themselves. Engineering competency is a big concern, especially for AI-related work Not recommending joining now because of the layoffs, reorgs, and chaos.
