Pros

Cool people to work with, pay is okay.

Cons

The company doesn’t really stand for anything else but just pushing memberships. At the end of the day, it’s understandable that it is part of our job but trying to convince people to sign up for something they really don’t want gets frustrating a lot. Customers get an attitude or simply just don’t come back because of that when it’s my job?. Not only that, everything is a competition with who has the most sales. No matter what location you work at, when others from different locations may come to your store for whatever reason it’s a competition. Why is management making it a competition on who has the most sales when we all work for the same organization?. Management expects you to just drop everything on your days off and go into work when either there aren’t enough people, or someone quit. Being outside in the scorching sun doesn’t make it any better either, as you aren’t aloud to sit down or check your phone even when there aren’t any customers. If you aren’t preforming in sales then they will cut your time or place you on days when they are least busiest. Even when you are preforming in sales it goes unnoticed which is confusing. In other words, if you are comfortable standing outside all day and being pushy with customers then this job is for you.

Pros

Some of the most dedicated coworkers and front line staff I’ve ever worked with. I enjoy working outdoors. Network of hardworking peers who know what you’re going through.

Cons

The company pushes a culture of “owner-operator” pride, but micromanages GMs like entry-level staff. No real owner gets treated this way. GMs are routinely asked to do guerilla-style marketing without reimbursement. There are no defined pathways for raises, promotions, or long-term growth. GMs are told to sell, but hourly staff are squeezed out of opportunities to earn. It’s a clear cost-cutting tactic… most GMs are left to create their own “development plans” so upper leadership can critique them without ever developing anything themselves. There’s nothing to grow into, which makes it nearly impossible to retain or motivate your team. A lot of us are fed up but we’ve got mouths to feed.
