Waters doesn't pay as competitively as similar companies or offer yearly bonuses but they used to make up for it by treating their employees well. Waters had a wonderful company culture that has suffered in the last 5 years under poor leadership. There were big missteps during Covid. They cut everyone's pay and put some employees on furlough anticipating a bad year but when they had a very normal year they didn't return any of the money. Instead we got to listen to them boast about the profits after taking money out of our pockets. Another major problem Waters has is leaving in poor middle managers. I have seen managers single handedly drive away a large group of employees in multiple departments and nothing is done about it. The attrition problems at Waters have gotten so bad in the last 5 years that it has chipped away at the in house knowledge severely. Lateral moves within the company become necessary because there are a lot of dead end career paths where your only opportunity for advancement is going into management.
