This dinosaur of a company boasts many managers who have worked here more than 20 years and never anywhere else. It shows. There is a high-school mentality here, and everyone is afraid of being laid off if they displease the management in any minor way. Consequently, good talent leaves and the old-timers who are left are mostly incompetent.
Managers here micro-manage. Do individual thinking and your ideas will be ignored. Projects are mis-managed, and there is confusion on company direction at the lower levels. Managers give a million conflicting orders and things end up being done in a way that doesn’t say “modern company” or even efficient. Projects are not managed creatively by a team, but orders are handed down to teams dictating how things should be done. And you are called on the carpet if you don’t do them that way. No creative thinking allowed.
The atmosphere at this old-boy company is especially toxic to women, and women who succeed must act like the boys or risk being terminated. Even acting like this may not help preserve their positions.
There is no training available to employees at the lower levels, but much money is spent on junkets for upper management. There is no such thing as professional development. There is little recognition for a job well done.
Conservative, conservative, conservative. Look elsewhere for a job, and you’ll be happier.
