Could be a great company but isn’t - Director Watts Water Technologies Employee Review

Pros

Salary for office workers is decent. Some people are nice.

Cons

Bad senior leadership with outdated approaches to management. No vision for the future other than to “sell more” and “get more sales.” There’s a culture of fear and everything has to be approved by the CEO. If he doesn’t like you for any reason, you’ll be fired. Doesn’t matter how good of a job you do. People don’t take responsibility for things and will be quick to try to blame anyone else. So expect a lot of finger pointing. This happens across the company since people are afraid to admit mistakes. The turnover is high. Some teams turnover twice in a year. Having a new boss every year is common which makes it hard to have a goal. Raises are tiny. Just a few percent even if you exceed expectations. If you take a job here, negotiate your salary high to start because in a year or two you will be far behind.

Pros

The only pros that I can say about Watts Water is that they are growing and continuously acquire new brands. I would say the PTO also isn’t as bad either comparable to other companies.

Cons

There’s no type of support or process documentation in place which is baffling since this company has been around for over a century. You have to jump through hoops and red tape in order to simplify or automate tasks. Also, management always wants control over things which can get frustrating. They don’t allow you to give ideas at all. They’ll state that they “hear you” but they don’t at all. Their systems are not the best whatsoever. Health insurance premiums are awful. They only offer HSA or PPO and the PPO is ridiculously expensive. I also feel like there’s zero culture. I was there for 12+ months and I barely knew management or coworkers on a personal level. Some departments are super siloed so it’s difficult to have conversations with people and get to know one another.
