Pros
Pay is decent, since you work 3/4 weekends a month. Saturday is paid at 1.5x and Sunday at 2x. Overtime over 40 hours is also 1.5x. You can usually choose your 2 days off during the week, granted it works with the rest of the guys in your department
Cons
Dirty, dusty, smoky environment. This place fears any kind of change or betterment and typically moves 1 step forward, 2 steps back, and after 10 years, is only getting worse. Depending on what jobs are planned over holiday shutdowns, there is a good chance you will be working on the holiday. Vacation is inadequate, and the good ol' boys club runs strong. they will hire someone off the street that quit a few years back, and bring them in on 1st shift for a made up job and pay them higher than guys that have stuck around.
