Pros

Adequate supervision for AMFT provided. Support for LMFT's built within the organization Convenient CEU opportunities offered with no cost to employees. The Billing team is incredibly supportive and provides quick assistance when needed for any concerns. Incredible fellow therapists (non-management) who are thoughtful, engaged, and willing to help.

Cons

WAVE has horrible compensation for clinicians and shows no signs of ever being able to pay therapists an actual living wage. As a licensed clinician, I was being paid $40 per session and there was no promise of any sustainable change that would result being paid more; instead they continued to hire more clinicians, open new offices, but continue to pay those who are performing the client-facing sessions poorly. There is an irritating amount of time that is required by company for group meetings that interfere with your schedule with half-pay only for licensed clinicians, nothing offered for associates. There is an unnerving amount of micromanagement and control held by the upper management, despite consistently singing songs of "We let you build your own schedule! We let you do what works for you!" Upper management has high standards for clients seen each week by clinicians, but do not take into account the reality of the current market of clients seeking support. I was promised a full caseload of 20-25 clients within 2 months of starting my job with WAVE, but did not reach that until almost 9 months in, at no consequence of my own, I simply was not offered clients or had clients that did not engage to initiate sessions. They used data matrixes to cite that I was at fault. I was criticized and told to be more available and take on cases that were outside of my scope of confidence or competence as a clinician to meet hour requirements for employment.

Pros

You get a chance to meet some other kind and knowledgeable therapist.

Cons

Terrible training, terrible pay, terrible marketing so the referral rates are often times low and often times are only approved for 12 sessions at a time, having to take just about anybody that comes through your door regardless of competency or comfortability. There is really no PTO. If you want to take vacation or have time off you have to give notice way in advance and you are not paid so no mental health days, no care for how stressed and burnt out ther therapist no worklife balance, not really too much consideration other than if you are billing enough or not. Typically if you are not performing to their standards they really try to point the blame on you. So if you want a job that is well balanced, pays adequately and is good for therapist look elsewhere.
