Pros
- Aaron Henry, our manager in CVICU, is one of the best bosses I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He cares about each of his staff, and tries his best to accomdate when able. - Wonderful place to obtain CVICU experience (ECMO, LVAD, IABP, etc...)
Cons
- Wellstar has mandated all staff receive the Covid-19 vaccine or be terminated - Many of the nurses in the unit remind me of high school girls, because there is so much gossip, and they will throw tantrums if they don't get their way. - Pay is mediocre compared to other Atlanta hospitals. - The Cardiothoracic Surgeons (Dr. Luu; Dr. Burke; Dr. Myung) are hands-off, so we communicate almost exclusively with their PA's and NP's. - Their (CT Surgeons) PA's and NP's are also demeaning and talk down to new staff. - Poor interprofessional communcation between the CT surgeons, Critical Care, and Heart Failure teams; which often results in the nurse serving as the messenger between them. - Grossly understaffed - There is borderline (arguably actual) discrimination against those who choose not to be vaccinated, regardless of legitamate reasons.
