Pros

Work schedule, challenge, fast paced, good backbone of written safety programs

Cons

Local union only backed safety when it was convenient. Labor relations was fractured (albeit improving). Safety programs, initiatives, required training and fundamentals hadn't been touched in over a year. Regional and corporate safety team talk a good game in Advanced Safety Leadership courses but it isn't the reality of what really goes on under the hood. Moral and ethical standards aren't very high in that senior level leadership - VPs, area VPs etc. expect "accountability" each and every time a line worker is injured. Essentially, get hurt, we want someone terminated. Local leadership can only fight that fight for so long. Overwhelming focus on "TWCC" KPI - time loss and comp costs. Overall frontline culture is non-existent to support such granular oversight. Regional Safety Manager was never really seen and didn't seem to want to do anything other than fly in like a seagull, crap all over the place and fly out. Safety office was a joke. There was a 2 foot hole above the desk chair from a leak well over 4 months. Lot's of "let's fix it" only to recede to "it's not in the budget". Local level leaders were good. They were trying to do the best with what they had.

Pros

Great pay, easy work, plenty of hours.

Cons

Some of the people who work in the warehouses are lazy and they have the so called manager wrapped around their finger, So you end up doing their job and yours. The manager won’t do anything because he is just as lazy as the warehouse guy. And is scared of the consequences if he actually does his job and disciplines the sorry ———‘s So the real workers are the only ones that suffer. That very manager told me two weeks before becoming the manager over the shipping department that he didn’t think he would become the manager because he had already told the other managers that we have to stop over working our real workers to cover up for our non workers. I told him that night he would be the same way as soon as he got the position, And if he did that I would be the first to tell him. Point being: If you are a lazy piece of trash and have no self respect or work ethics this is the place for you. Bad thing is that you can not get in touch with anyone that has any interest in cleaning up (this particular terminal ) of a very good company.
