Pros
The benefit package and support make the employer attractive to people who need these types of services for themselves or families. Someone that has no need of extensive benefits is likely to go somewhere less bureauocratic.
Cons
Highly entrenched systems for people to conform to. This stifles creativity for certain personality types, or people with differing political views. If you are not centrist to the corporation - good luck - you will surely be frustrated in the work place.
