Pros
Weyerhaeuser has great people, although most of them have been with the company a minimum of 20 years. The benefits are great. They still pay a good portion of the medical plan, have a 401k match and a pension. Most organizations offer an acceptable work life balance. Safety is a value that Weyerhaeuser believes in and exhibits each day. Great job in the area. Gives you a whole new appreciation of risk.
Cons
Weyerhaeuser lives in the past! The culture is slow to adapt to changing times and could be seen as reactionary. Weyerhaeuser's strategy has not been clearly articulated for years and they clearly pander to Wall Street. The environment is political with long timers having inappropriate influence. Many people have been in the same roles for 20+ years. The way things have always been influences business decisions. Nepotism runs rapid. The company has difficulty retaining new employees. Paid vacation is 2 weeks for the first 5 years.
