Pros
The Wolfram tech stack is unmatched. Its aims are to be as encompassing as possible, especially in mathematics. So, the problems are interesting and deep. The people working on these issues are extremely knowledgeable, and mostly great to work with.
Cons
- Low pay, relative to industry. - The health insurance might be good in Champaign, IL, but as I was remote, it was terrible where I lived. - The tech often has large swaths of abandonware as WRI is somewhat small and the ambitions are very large. -Few outside of academia know about or have used the wolfram language.
