This will be a positive change for the company. Cree has strong technology and good people. The company has great products in all of their businesses. But the company is worth more if it broken into pieces than kept whole.
Cons
The CEO was unable to convert the company into a profitable Lighting company and this put stress on all parts of the company including the profitable pieces. It is never fun to work in a company that is failing. And the stock market, customers, and their competitors all knew the company was weakened.
