Pros
I found the Manager, Anna to be awesome. She was great at multi-tasking and firm but fair. I found her to be down-to-earth and easy to talk to. The one thing that stood out to me in the short-time I worked at YRC was that Anna didn't hesitate to jump in to help solve freight issues. That says a lot to me about a manager that doesn't just stand back and 'direct' but jumps in to help solve issues. On-call hourly wage are good for the Tracy area. However, after hired as permanent employee, hourly wage drops. Exciting fast pace work. Overall the co-workers were nice.
Cons
For me the biggest con, as a new hire on-call employee, was when I was told after 30 days of working I had to join the union and pay $650.00. Joining the union was not the con BUT $650.00 out of pocket.....that's a lot of money to come out of pocket after 30 days. Another con for me was the time for training, I was getting only three days training. The work itself was exciting and interesting but overwhelming. I was told on graveyard shift only one person worked and it's the busiest shift, three days in not sufficient. For some this could be a con or pro: you will have to work graveyard shifts.
