Pros
Flexibility in the schedule, our boss will mostly work with us to accommodate our hours. The coworkers in my department are usually nice. Has maternity leave.
Cons
Management has never consulted our department about any policy changes. No surveys or interviews to gather our input just random ideas that we are required to enforce. I work in aquatics and the state law mandates we check the chemicals in the pools and keep them at certain levels. One day, after fixing the spa no one bothered to turn on any of the chemicals for ELEVEN HOURS. And all of the other pools had not been checked for at least three hours. The headguard make the correct legal decision and shut all of the pools down until normal chemical levels were reached. Management proceeded to chew the headguard out for "Bad PR". HR harassed an employee for trying to get sick after getting injured on the job. Boss yelled at another employee for not finding subs after their parent died. Some of the workers have actually been homeless while employed their. Empowering women? Eliminating racism? Management ordered completely separate uniforms for men and women. Everyone I have talked to has said the uniforms make them uncomfortable. The YWCA practices wage slavery, I understand it is supposedly a non profit but the CEO is making a seven figure salary. Very high turnout rate. Most of the employers are extremely hostile to anyone who works there. Will ignore workers asking for to take their annual reviews.
