Pros
Your type of employment union/managerial and professional dictates the type of benefits you have. Many opportunities to learn and grow regardless of employment type through Yale programming Great 403(b) match program for M&P employees (takes 2 years for any match to kick in as a union employee and then it's only 2%, compared to 5% or 10% with M&P employment)
Cons
It really depends on your department and manager Many layers to the system, sometimes very difficult to get anything done Some departments are lax and others micromanage Some managers aren't trained but HR backs them wether they are right or wrong Also, applying to next position is difficult even as an internal applicant. Many roles are ear marked for others with no way to know, so often you're wasting time applying. Very long interview process. Average is 3-6 months, but I've been through a process that took a year.
