Pros

Corizon corporate IT (located in both TN and MO) has seen incredible amounts of change in the last 3 years. Much of this change, especially the early portions, was chaotic and de-stabilized a group that was performing very well prior to the merger. However, the last 12+ months has seen a very good CIO come in the door, who is well respected in these markets, and has started to turn around a department that languished previously. We are seeing renewed focus on enterprise IT standards, low performers are managed up or out, and a lot of the old guard management that was not effective are no longer here. Pros: ~Talented staff ~Great locations ~Nice new office buildings with great amenities ~Strong leadership within IT Management

Cons

Corizon IT is still rebuilding, and it's not 100% perfect just yet. There are still some areas that need improvement, but this is a great time to get involved with a shop of this size. Hard work is recognized and rewarded, and there usually aren't so many opportunities for growth in a company of this size. There are a few areas that are still working out the kinks, but these are short term problems that have road maps already in place for correction. At present, work life balance is a little askew, but that is due to some engineering openings that haven't been filled yet. Once those are in place this should ease greatly.

Thank you for taking time to provide feedback on our ever growing IT Department. To your point, I agree we have seen exceptional change over the last 12 months. While the initial transformation started out rocky, we quickly transitioned to a positive restructure as we migrated our leadership, governance, and culture to a new era. I agree we are still rebuilding, but as is the nature of this business we will always be looking for ways to improve not only our department but our relationship within the business. We have a renewed focus on helping the business grow and will remain agile as we navigate the corrections market. Your advice is heard loud and clear as we are actively developing ways to better recognize our team members. We have worked diligently to right size our IT team and provide better work life balance. Hiring team-oriented, highly skilled and engaged employees will remain a focus as we move forward. Todd Myers

Pros

Have had a diverse amount of technologies over the years to work with and the job pace itself is not super face paced so in most cases, can take time to resolve issues without feeling too rushed. This allows for more research time on complex issues and learning about new technologies as we implemented them.

Cons

There hasn't been any upward movement available in a long time, no chances for advancement anymore. The company financials have steeply declined since the last ownership change. Bills aren't getting paid on time so we are stuck chasing down getting a bill paid to get Internet connections back up for example. Communication is also very much non-existent as to the state of the company, so have to rely on what is in the news to find out any real answers. Company recently filed for bankruptcy. We haven't been paid it over 25 days but we are expected to still show up and perform our normal duties.
