We are sorry to hear you feel the DOC runs things, medical included, however working in a correctional setting safety and security is of the utmost concern. Corizon Health contracts with the DOC to provide healthcare service to the incarcerated population and we must abide by the policies, rules and regulations of our client. While it may seem like the DOC is running medical, our client employs a contract monitor to ensure we are meeting the terms and requirements of our contract with the DOC. As far as staffing, we feel confident in our staffing matrices based on our 30 plus years’ experience at over 400 facilities. Each contract has a contracted staffing plan based on the RFP, should either the client or Corizon Health see a concern with the staffing plan they may make a recommendation to make an adjustment. However, we do encourage staff to escalate their concerns to site management or even regional management if they feel a staffing change is warranted while keeping in mind that any change requires client approval.
