      Pros

      pay and benefits are good, salary vs hourly, good support staff, I definitely feel like the CO's are watching out for me and not unnecessarily fearful for a prison which was a very nice surprise for my first corrections job

      Cons

      24/7/365 never closes or slows down. there are no holidays. someone is going to have to work that holiday shift and eventually it will be you. EMR is quirky and cumbersome at times.

We are also very happy to hear that you feel safe in your environment. You are correct, being in a medical environment the operation is 24/7/365. The sites do try to do a “holiday” rotation but you are again correct eventually it will be your turn. This is similar to working in a hospital environment. As far as the EMR (electronic medical record), any computer system can have its quirks and be cumbersome. It takes time to work through those quirks so they can adjust. Overtime is paid in the pay cycle it is accrued in. An error could occur on a paycheck for a variety of reasons. Any discrepancies in pay should be addressed immediately through your site manager.       Pros

      Have had a diverse amount of technologies over the years to work with and the job pace itself is not super face paced so in most cases, can take time to resolve issues without feeling too rushed. This allows for more research time on complex issues and learning about new technologies as we implemented them.

      Cons

      There hasn't been any upward movement available in a long time, no chances for advancement anymore. The company financials have steeply declined since the last ownership change. Bills aren't getting paid on time so we are stuck chasing down getting a bill paid to get Internet connections back up for example. Communication is also very much non-existent as to the state of the company, so have to rely on what is in the news to find out any real answers. Company recently filed for bankruptcy. We haven't been paid it over 25 days but we are expected to still show up and perform our normal duties.
