Pros
Most of the employees at Zayo are very intelligent, professional, and motivated people. Zayo encourages all employees to work from home, so that can be an advantage at times. Salary, vacation and health benefits package has been average for an entry level employee in the technology industry.
Cons
Zayo really offers no incentives for you to work any harder than you have to to get by. This company is very cheap. No 401K match, no milestones to hit or merit-based raises to achieve, very few paid holidays. There is so little visibility into other departments, or even to your own management since everyone is spread out all over the country, working from home in many cases. Most people that you talk to here have been in the same role for a decade. Zayo is chaotic, to say the least. Everything seems to be done last minute; everything is rushed. There is very little cooperation between departments; coordinating any interdepartmental effort truley requires a miracle. This is not due to ignorance, but due to the extremely narrow role structure that Zayo has created. Each employee has their task and there is little or no overlap between departments. So when it comes time to colarborate, individuals in different roles cannot relate to eachothers' needs. Ultimately, the environment at Zayo is not an enjoyable one. The work is choatic, and your efforts are not noticed or appreciated. The executives are frequently vocal with their opinions, and pretty rarely make you feel good about things. I really dont feel like there are avenues to progress your career within this company (unless perhaps you work in the CO headquarters). This company is not a good candidate for long-term employment.
