Pros

learned quite a bit in the 2 years and worked with some very bright people

Cons

I knew this was going to be bad when on my 1st day of work they changed my quota from what I had signed in my offer letter, talk about bait and switch. The leadership is a revolving door. Since they went public over a year ago, I watched most of the leadership walk out the door. The biggest issues I feel are the contact change in leadership, change in comp plan, change in direction, etc. This place is very political. If you are a former level 3 employee and live in Colorado then you'll probably like the culture. If you are not in Colorado or not from level 3 then chances are this isn't the place for you. My previous manager was at the bottom of the sales yet he was promoted and brought in his buddy to level 3 who got promoted. This place isn't about your accomplishments as much as whose butt you are willing to kiss. Also try and stick with the same comp plan for more then 2 months at a time and see if you can keep a VP in the same job for more then 3 months, then again this company has more 30 year old VPs then any other place in the industry.

I’m glad you found your time with Zayo to be a learning experience and agree we have many really bright people on the team. We encourage everyone to share constructive feedback directly with their managers so it can be addressed in real-time. We are a dynamic company driven by rapid growth as a result of customer success and acquisitions. This has driven changes in both our organization and compensation plan. We recently made a change to enable our sales team to increase their participation in our equity program which is core to our compensation philosophy. While this was a change, we funded this transition with $2M in additional compensation over the next 3 quarters -- for most people this was a well received and net positive change. Organizationally, we have expanded our leadership team and believe strongly we have top talent in each position. I am also pleased to have accomplished that expansion by promoting from within for 7 out of 9 positions in the sales organization. Additionally, as we scale we are working to ensure a positive and engaging culture that is unique to Zayo across all of our offices -- across the U.S. and our international locations. As we move into 2016, we’ll continue to make this a priority.

Pros

Excellent sales enablement, tools, and internal support. Leadership has done a good job creating an environment where Enterprise Account Executives can focus on selling instead of getting bogged down by administrative tasks. CRM data is clean, processes are organized, and responsibilities between Sales, Customer Success, and Account Management are clearly defined. It’s refreshing to work for a company that invests in the systems and structure needed to help its sales teams succeed.

Cons

Ongoing integration efforts following the Crown Castle Fiber acquisition mean some processes and systems are still evolving. As with most enterprise sales roles, building pipeline requires significant self-sourcing and prospecting across a large territory. The product portfolio is extensive, which creates a bit of a learning curve for new hires but also provides opportunities to solve complex customer challenges.
