Pros

Great people! The excitement among "Zelots" is felt throughout the organization. Girl bosses run the organization, which is something amazing to see! This is a huge contrast to other companies I've worked for where most if not all the top positions are held by men. The CEO is dynamic, a clear communicator, and displays genuine care for the employees in the company. The company is made up of lots of smaller acquired companies and is working towards "One Zelis" to make sure all areas are aligned and part of the larger story of the company. There are growing pains with this, but I feel the company is doing a good job of bringing people together around this idea. Leaders at the company are supportive and do their best to make sure employees have opportunities to grow. Managers also do their best to make sure employees can prioritize their personal health and families. Great place for remote work. Some teams don't have this option due to the nature of their work, but for those who can work remotely this is a huge plus. Equipment provided by the company, good orientation, decent IT support. This is a camera-on, kind of company which allows people (even when working remotely) to know each other. Good medical, dental, etc. benefits / 401k / unlimited PTO / access to LinkedIn learning and other discounts.

Cons

The division I'm part of has kind of a "start-up" feel and is really unorganized and has a generally unclear feeling about process and roles. I am confused pretty much every day because there are no documented processes, and the things that are documented are all over the place and hard to find. You have to thrive on long-term/ongoing ambiguity to be okay working here, otherwise you will burn out quickly. People want to change this, but it doesn't seem there is consensus on how to change it. This is part of the growing pains I think, but it's not an easy environment in which to be effective. There are some teams that are super protected and will not answer questions, join client calls, or respond to production defects in a timely manner. This makes it difficult to move things forward for clients.

Pros

I 've been with Zelis for more than 3 years, and it's been a great place to build a career. One of the biggest benefits is the flexibility. Working remotely has allowed me to maintain a healthy work-life balance, which is incredibly important because my family is my top priority. I've always felt trusted to manage my work while still being present for the moments that matter most outside of work. The company has created an environment where employees are empowered to do their jobs without unnecessary micromanagement. Leadership encourages collaboration, and I've had opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute in meaningful ways. The culture is supportive, and I've enjoyed working alongside talented colleagues who genuinely care about helping each other succeed.

Cons

Like any growing organization, there are times when processes and priorities change, which can take some adjustment. Clear communication during periods of change is always appreciated, but overall, these have been manageable and haven't taken away from my positive experience.

Pros

Good work/life balance, generous PTO

Cons

• Excessive management layers: There are too many layers of management, many of which seem focused on self-preservation rather than supporting the team. This creates unnecessary bureaucracy, leaving employees bogged down with low-value tasks and corporate checkboxes instead of meaningful work. • Outdated technology and resistance to innovation: The tech stack is significantly outdated, and there is a clear resistance to adopting modern solutions. For example, I was penalized for incorporating AI into development work, despite other teams being encouraged to use tools like ChatGPT for less impactful tasks. Opportunities to implement cost-saving, AI-driven solutions were dismissed without proper consideration. • Unsustainable expectations for advancement: Promotions appear to be reserved only for top performers who are willing to prioritize work above all else. The expectation to “eat, sleep, and breathe” the job creates an unhealthy work-life balance and limits growth opportunities for otherwise strong contributors.
