My coworkers are ACTUALLY really fun people to be around. Also, the food is pretty good. But that’s where the list ends.
Cons
-Middle management is a nightmare to deal with. Oftentimes, ICs are jerked around with work assignments. We’re constantly asked to take on more than the agreed upon work and deadlines are not adjusted to account for this. Super frustrating. -There are folks that have been on my team for YEARS, and are passed up for promotions and leadership opportunities simply because of nepotism. To clarify, these senior employees are exceptionally talented. The only reason they’re passed up on is because middle management doesn’t like to be disagreed with. They want “Yes” men who don’t challenge them. Such an unhealthy culture. Discourse should be encouraged in a workplace, especially one that deals with such safety critical work. -They swear that safety is the top priority, but it’s not. There’s been multiple times when concerns are voiced and brushed aside until they end up reaching catastrophic levels. And these aren’t just 1:1 messages. These are messages that are voiced in meetings and public slack channels. My manager has personally rushed work out the door multiple times without having gone through the proper validation, only for that work to cause regressions later. -Just don’t even try to negotiate a higher salary here. My concern was brought all the way up to the director level. They pretended to care, and said they’d look into it. Nothing ever came of that though. Don’t waste your time. -CEO and CTO aren’t very nice people when it comes to addressing concerns people bring up. Like, I get it. It’s a never ending list of issues that keep surfacing, but just because it’s not YOUR issue doesn’t mean that it’s not an important thing to talk about. I’ve lost count of how many times throughout the years I’ve seen Jesse publicly ridicule people. From their engineering work to their grammar. You’d think that someone in his position would have a little more tact. NOPE.
