Pros

A great discount (50%), great products, a loyal customer base, flexible scheduling, and you get to play with makeup all day. Their employee training has also improved tremendously since I started with the company.

Cons

You do not work on commission, but you DO have strict sales goals. At first that sounded great, except your hours are based on your performance (i.e. low sales means no hours). Even if you personally don't care about your hours (like me, I'm a student and wanted FEWER hours), many of the other SA's DO care about hours which can make a more stressful work environment. Basically, if you do a great job and have the best sales, you get very little (especially if you can't work full time). You do not get rewarded for your efforts and management still rides you about doing even better. They do give bonuses occasionally, but these are hard to get and pitifully small (they don't just depend on your performance, the store as a whole also has to do well before you qualify). Although you don't get the perks of making more money when your sales are good (like working on commission), you do get most of the drawbacks of working on commission: people "shark," people steal sales, and management forces you to obsess about numbers. Also, corporate management changes like no tomorrow. They decide that some things aren't working, and they fire and replace entire teams at once. Every employee is disposable in this company. All they care about are numbers. They actually enjoy hiring new and enthusiastic employees, milking them for all the money they can make the company, then wearing them out in a short period of time so they can be out with the old and in with the new group of naive, motivated people. If you are hoping to advance, I would start with a different company. Most of their managers are recruited from managers of different companies -- very rarely do they promote. This goes for district and corporate management as well as store managers. Even the "key holders" (basically a kind of shift supervisor) are frequently hired from outside the company rather than promoting from within.
