Pros

- Good people. The only reason the company has survived so long is because of the people here. They have a excellent team. People here really care about others. - Excellent learning opportunity. One can get to learn a lot here. People here will trust you with the work and provide all kind of support. - For whatever reasons the company has realised the value of its employees a bit lately. There have been a few policy changes.

Cons

- High attrition. We had a very good team but unfortunately the company has lost a lot of good employees following the cost cutting measures. Employees have very low moral now. -Ever changing business model. The focus of the company keeps changing frequently. They are trying to do anything and everything. No body actually knows what they are trying to do. -Namesake policies. The company has recently introduced some policies, most of which are tick marks on some checklist. Their policies are not well thought through. The WFH and remote work policies introduced are a joke and do not add any actual value. The policies should be designed with the mindset of improving the productivity of the employees and not with the mind set of punishing/restricting/micromanaging them. You need to trust your employees. Though these policy changes are very nice first steps, a lot of work is needed to get back the loyalty, trust and confidence of the employees.

Pros

Absolutely 0 positives to this role

Cons

This is the job that taught me that HR is not there to protect you, just the company. I experienced intense homophobia while working for Great Plains supply in Lenexa Kansas. It was so bad that they paid me out a settlement under a mutual agreement to separate. I worked this role during the peak of summer. They are a pool supply place and the amount of osha violations to be spotted is insanity. They had us saw pool rope with a rusty knife while wearing no ppe. No gas masks to help against chemical inhalation from chlorine that gasses off. I passed out twice on the job. They expect you to use a forklift but I never received an official forklift training, just training from my operations manager. This breaks state and federal laws. The benefits package is insulting and costs a ton. The pay was only 25 dollars an hour despite backbreaking physical labor and intensive niche knowledge of pool parts and the industry. The president is a joke. She inherited the company from her dad and knows absolute 0 about pool supply or parts. Extremely unprofessional. She would frequently harass and be verbally abusive to staff in front of customers to try to make the customer laugh. Had a dog that is a tiny one and would pee on the counter. Cannot take criticism. When I called out my concerns about osha and safety they pulled me into an hr meeting to document "insubordination" for not wanting to get on a cherry picker untrained. I documented everything for 3 months and built a strong case. I really wanted hr to step in and do something as they had just been bought out by Marcone but the HR rep just stepped in and took my employers side despite documenting all of the proof of an unsafe and hostile work environment. I am disgusted that companies continue to allow people like my president to stay in their positions over the good people who genuinely work hard and want work to feel safe. I hated this job with my entire soul and I’ve never been more grateful to be gone. Do not work here.
