Pros
The company is going through a major "transformation" under a new CEO when I left. Hopeful this will address the Cons while keeping the Pros, but take these as a snapshot of the old ON. Thoughtful approach to important decisions (due diligence and consensus building) Employee-centric through development programs, diversity initiative, and respect for knowledge gained from long-term, older employees Very high ethical standards Large product portfolio helps even out financial impact of business cycles Large internal manufacturing footprint
Cons
Ossified, matrix managed, and highly bureaucratic, so very slow moving projects along Too many projects: not enough culling of ideas early to allow focus on most important ones; manufacturing transfers happening all the time to balance factory loading Not enough resources to support all projects Tries to be "fast-follower" in many product lines, not a leader, but cost considerations make it more of a "slow-follower" Business units control everything from manufacturing to R&D, so extra overhead when trying to execute a plan
