Pros

Ridiculously high pay Great benefits RRSP match SDO (one scheduled day off every month/free day off) 3 weeks vacation Free food at meetings

Cons

-Working in a cubicle, very close quarters, difficult environment to work in -Very competitive environment (people put others down in order for themselves to step up). Its so competitive people are more worried about their own power trip then they are about getting the work done. That really bothered me, people weren't going to work with the attitude of getting the work done, instead it was an attitude of "what do I need to do to climb the corporate ladder today." -Very hierarchical, its all about title -Very slow and bureaucratic, takes FOREVER for anything to happen, everyone has to have their say on the smallest change. Very difficult to see tangible progress on work, which is an extremely demotivating environment. -Because of recent growth there are a lot of young, inexperienced managers. They are not doing a good job of managing their employees because they just don't have the skill set. -Such a big organization its difficult to have a close knit environment -A lot of managers have an attitude "we'll do it this way because this is the way we've always done it" rather than interest in improving things -Managers don't want help from other areas as its seen as "stepping on toes" or some attempt to work your way into their territory. Managers are very territorial so there is little to no collaboration between groups. Very negative attitude to have. Makes for poor culture. Additionally it means the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. Sometimes people in different groups are doing the exact same work and no one has any idea. There's no coordination because people don't want to work together. They see it as a threat to their power. Just a really poor and stupid attitude, sets a bad example for all the employees looking up to management. -Career opportunities are good only if you know the right people, if you suck up to management you can move ahead

Pros

The company tends to be fairly competitive in pay and benefit. Very flexible work hours. My direct manager is actually at another location while my manager's boss resides in the same location as I am. However, my manager's boss travel lots. As a result, I pretty much work by myself and have lots of freedom. The company also tries its best to provide training to employees and HR supports for career development. Nonetheless, an employee himself remains the main driver for his career development.

Cons

Its onboard process can use some improvement. New employees are left to their own to find out what they should do, how they should do their job, and who should they talk to; with little direction from managers. Many managers seem to be too busy to answer questions and listen to concern, some even seem to avoiding their direct reports, but some will do their best to chat with employees if requested. Job performance review happen mostly once a year and employee tend to receive little feedback in between. When I request for more feedback, my manager told me that he tends to deal with matters as they happens and if he has any concern about my performance, he will for sure let me know. The company as a whole is very decentralized and have many regional offices. As a result, learning the org chat and getting connected with the people one needs to work with tend to be a challenge. A good portion of the employees are not good at returning e-mails or phone on a prompt manner.

Pros

Great team, and very solid leaders, at least up to executive level. High performance culture (not for everyone but I like it) and strong track record of results - financial and otherwise.

Cons

Last few years under new CEO the focus on employees has really diminished. Lots of employee takeaways, layoffs, cutting investment in things that matter to people, no interest in listening to concerns. And the worst - changes to FlexWork (hybrid) policy that could have been a win for people are disrupting or upending majority of office workers. Leaders also getting zero flexibility (5 days in office, no flex on schedule or location permitted).
