Pros

Allowed employees to work from home. Most meetings were held online so a person could attend from anywhere. Good Benefits and room for growth.

Cons

Employees were all stressed in the Calgary based department I worked in due to unrealistic deadlines. Team Lead did not have people skills and was very rude. Unfortunately, this person was slated for advancement. An old boys club, where men still had to wear suites to work everyday. Top management would drop down for a chat, but only talked to the men, the women were ignored. Many employees never saw daylight due to the workstation environment placed in the middle of the floor. Only offices on the outside perimeter had windows. Only one very old microwave and a small fridge provided in the staff kitchen for an entire floor of employees.

Good pay and decent benefits for the position

Cons

Work for my particular project tended to be boring, which lead to my departure from the company.

Pros

Great benefits, bonus, DEI really matters, pension contributions, PTO/SDOs, training and learning offerings, great colleagues/leads (including management at the department level), community donations/volunteering time allowances

Cons

Tone deaf removal of flexible work policy/WFH despite demonstrated efficiency of remotely and already geographically diverse working teams (seriously, no one wants to commute hours per week just to sit on MS Teams calls all day with their team or other teams already spread out across the US and Canada), average pay compared to the rest of the industry, change to the bonus structure that poorly factor individual team contributions, no offerings of tangible career growth opportunities or promotions (growth and progression is non-existent and employees are encouraged to move laterally which is problematic for experience/knowledge keeping and attrition), ongoing people resourcing challenges that remain unaddressed by the executive and senior leadership teams and an expectation to do a lot more with a lot less.
