Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn. If you want, you'll get to work on infrastructure, web services, web apps, mobile apps, and analytics. In addition, you'll be exposed to embedded systems. Wonderful people. Everybody works hard, maintains high standards, and delivers on projects. In addition, folks make time to get to know each other and become friends.

Cons

It's a small place, so you'll be asked to do lots of different things. If you want to focus narrowly, then it's probably not the place for you.

Pros

Such a wide range of interesting work: from embedded hardware to web APIs, big data and network security. Took a chance on me straight out of school, worked on the original hardware platform then the big pivot to being a platform for web-based thermostats. The office and location are great (if you live in Brooklyn!) and the culture is phenomenal: a real family, sitting down to 'Hubsgiving' dinner every November was heartwarming. Health coverage is out of this world.

Cons

Salaries stagnated while the responsibilities kept piling on, but started to turn around before I left (and the financial position has improved a lot). Sometimes the work involves frustrating partners (large electrical companies) that don't seem to value the company.

Pros

Good people to work with

Cons

Company Growth is dependent on utility priorities which aren’t the most aligned with renewables during some presidential terms.
