Pros

Great pay. Great company culture. Very intelligent colleagues that will help and push you. Probably the least evil game company you can work for and earn good money.

Cons

Epic has acquired a huge number of companies which has slowly diluted standards as people circumvent recruiting processes. A lot of people have flocked to Epic specifically for money which has had a detriment to company culture. Very slow to change and adapt to new internal processes. Career progression is available but hard to define.

Pros

Salary, benefits and bonus fantastic. Inclusive, helpful culture. Extra holiday and time off to help people juggle during the pandemic. They really look after their staff. The best place I have worked (in a 25 year career) by quite some margin.

Cons

Literally none I can think of.

Pros

Great people, senior level talent, nice compensation. Fun extras like swag. Unreal Engine is an amazing product. You will learn a lot working here.

Cons

Ethics. Their values have eroded over the years. DEI initiatives were canned. They are now over-sexualizing female characters in game. They make unrealistic demands with what we should do and the timeline on which we should do it. We always release products too quickly, then end up with critical bugs and a bad reputation. They ask you to do work above your level, then don't give you any promotions. They'd rather hire someone from outside into a role than promote from within. Tim Sweeney is a disaster online, an embarrassment.
