benefits, culture, mission, little office politics (within my org anyway)

Cons

Base salary is only average and since the company is not public there are no stocks to be given as compensation. There is a bonus, but it is not that large and it is put into your retirement account not give as cash. This is not on par with the younger tech companies.

Pros

Work-life balance is generally pretty good. They take care of their people, which shows in how many years people have worked there for. Overall, I’ve found fellow employees to be humble and interested in making the world better. When taking into account the cost of living in the Inland Empire, Esri pays pretty well. I’ve had no problems living a comfortable and good life as an employee.

Cons

The length of employment and relative stability can lead to employees getting complacent. And this can in turn lead to being in a bubble to some degree. Being headquartered in Redlands and strongly preferring in-person (during non-pandemic times) work over remote work can be challenging for attracting new talent. Not everyone loves living in the Inland Empire.
