      A Company for Opportunity

      Pros

      Essendant gives associates an opportunity to experience many different sides of a business. Being a wholesaler, there are all sorts of customers to work with on either side of the product life cycle. There is a room to grow at Essendant, and employee retention seems relatively high. The office environment is becoming more and more casual, and the coworkers really believe in what they're doing.

      Cons

      This company takes a while to adopt change. Technology can be a problem here, but they seem to be actively addressing it, but have also been for a few years. Could use a bit more diversity at all levels. Internal training opportunities is either lacking, or not advertised to the employees.

      Pros

      - Third shift gets three days off a week - The PTO is generous after 90 days but the medical is a bit high - Can buy product from warehouse at wholesale price

      Cons

      - Extremely old and outdated warehouse system. Better off using pen and paper - 401k is a 50 cent on the dollar match, and there is a fee associated with the account - Too much hassle regarding "down time" even when making your numbers or doing something else that isn't scanning a box every 3 minutes
