Pros

Seemingly cool culture, free food

Cons

After the initial honeymoon gets over it is basically a show of inadept leaders (aks Directors) who have formed their own tribes and promote their own agenda under the disguise of company goals. What once used to be a bottom up culture has now been brow-beaten into compliance. They talk about coaching mentality but the real culture is NOT growth oriented, its PIP. Every year some staff will be FORCE fit into saying they did not meet their goals and a PIP is designed. They will make it a short term affair designed to ensure the employee is leaving. I have seen new employees as early as 6 months fall under PIP.

Pros

And it's not even close. Imagine working for a company where guiding principles and mission statements aren't just empty words. They actually mean something, and people try their best to follow them. The company shows that it values its employees by providing a clean and well-maintained workspace with food, coffee, beer, and kombucha; transparent and clear communication from the executives during ; and a whole host of excellent benefits including good health insurance, a good amount of vacation time, unlimited sick/mental health days, and in many cases WFH/hybrid options depending on your role. Work/life balance is a big priority and is frequently discussed among both managers and ICs (individual contributors). There's also a strong emphasis on career growth and learning opportunities. Before Etsy, I had never felt so supported and comfortable at work.

Cons

Mainly it's just that the company is big, so sometimes it's hard to get the right information or find the right person or team to help with a problem. However, when you consider how big the company is, this is less of a problem than you might expect due to the various well-organized systems and resources that employees can use to communicate and share info.
